INTRODUCTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, are a collection of 17 interlinked objectives established by the United Nations in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. These goals are designed to address a broad range of global challenges, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice, with the overarching aim of fostering a sustainable and prosperous future for all.

The 17 goals are supported by 169 detailed targets and a set of indicators to measure progress, which enables governments, institutions, and communities to track and accelerate advancements. The goals cover a wide array of domains, such as ending hunger and ensuring food security, promoting gender equality, providing quality education, fostering economic growth, and protecting ecosystems. By striving to create a balance between economic development, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability, the SDGs provide an integrated roadmap to a more sustainable world.
